Church Stretton is served by excellent road and rail connections. There is an excellent Bus service between Shrewsbury and Ludlow, and direct train links to Manchester and South Wales. At weekends and Bank Holidays in the summer shuttle bus services operate with easy links into the hills.

BY CAR

Church Stretton is situated approximatley 13 miles south of Shrewsbury and 15 miles north of Ludlow just off the A49 trunk road.

The main car park in the town is in Easthope Road and there is a smaller one in Lutwyche Road – both are Pay & Display. There is also some limited, short stay (nomrally 2 hour max) on-road parking around the town. Carding Mill Valley (a short walk from the centre of town), also has many car parking places – but the National Trust do charge a fee.

BY RAIL

Trains arrive at Church Stretton rail station, hourly, on the Manchester to Cardiff main line. One stop north -Shrewsbury – is the hub for changing for Birmingham, North Wales and Chester. One stop further on from Shrewsbury is Crewe where there is an opportunity to get to Church Stretton from the North West, Yorkshire, the North East and Scotland.

Between Church Stretton and London the quickest route is to and from Euston via Crewe. With just the one change of train you can do the journey in three hours. Another useful route which normally takes about four hours is to and from Paddington via Newport. Choice of route often depends on your ultimate destination at the London end.

Please be aware that the railway station at Church Stretton is unstaffed and that if you want a taxi from the station you will need to book it in advance.
