Traditionally produced food is at the heart of Shropshire's richly contrasting landscape. Follow this food trail example on the more information page to create your very own locally produced meal in the evening!
Source local meats sold from farm shops, and gaze out over the fields where next season's produce is growing. You will find fruit and vegetables picked fresh in the morning, and you can also 'pick your own' starting with strawberries before Wimbledon, through to raspberries and many other farmed fruits. Later in the season and for free, harvest the hills for whinberries and cache the hedgerows for blackberries and sloes.
There are freshly baked pies, preserves and cakes to tempt you and many opportunities to wander round farmers markets. Locally produced real ales can be found at Woods of Wistanstow, the Three Tuns at Bishop's Castle and Hobsons Brewery at Cleobury Mortimer.
